Parenting Our Parents

On this week’s episode, we talk about our roles as daughters. Growing up as girls, we were often the apple of our parents’ eye. The hopes and dreams they had for us were endless and we worked to meet and exceed their expectations to make them proud. As adults, the expectations don’t stop and the pressure grows to make our parents proud, to honor what they’ve given us, and to care for them as they cared for us (particularly as they age). Listen as Ashley and Marcy talk about their roles as daughters, how they draw boundaries with their parents, and the rules for being the best adult daughters we can be.

All Black Everything: Marcy talks Black Hair and Respectability Politics. What are your thoughts?
